Crushed stone from Tilcon’s Tomkins Cove quarry has been used to produce 50,000 cy of concrete supplied by our customer, Jenna Concrete, to the new Yankee Stadium project. In addition, over 21,000 tons of 3/4 inch, 1 1/2 inch and 1 1/4 inch bluestone have been supplied from Tilcon's West Nyack Quarry and Haverstraw Quarry.

The new Yankee Stadium opened on April 16 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues. Yankee Stadium held up for 84 years, surpassed only by Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. The $1.3 billion project, brainchild of Yankees Chairman George Steinbrenner, is one of the premier construction projects to have taken place in the Bronx in the past 50 years. Designed by architect HOK Sport, the stadium is open air in design, features a natural grass field and seats 53,000 fans. Each one of the seats offers an unencumbered view of home plate.

Tilcon's recycle business, located in the Bronx, close to the stadium, supplied over 66,000 tons of recycled materials to the site - a mix of 3/4 inch, Item 4 and Select Fill.

Along with the investment made by the Yankees, the city and state have contributed more than $200 million to build recreational parks along the waterfront and other facilities around the ballpark, including a hotel, convention center and $45 million Yankee Stadium Metro-North Station. Four new parking garages have been built, creating approximately 10,000 vehicle spaces.

The recycle business has also been heavily involved in this peripheral development, supplying 4500 tons of quarry stone and recycled materials for the soccer fields next to the stadium and supplying recycled stone for the sidewalks and curbs of the Grand Concourse, a major landmark in the Bronx, that has been rebuilt as part of the stadium development.
