SUSTAINABILITY IN FLOW
Transportation is one of our biggest focuses in environmental sustainability. Delivering our materials with as little energy and emissions impact as possible is a top priority. To meet this goal, we operate an extensive barging network with ports across NYC and Long Island, supporting sustainability in the following ways:
Traffic Reduction: Each barge delivery is the equivalent to 324 truckloads. In 2024 our barges took over 80,000 trucks off the road!
Energy & Emissions: One barge can hold up to1500-2000 tons of material while one truck only holds 40 tons, resulting in an up to 80% reduction of fuel consumption when material is delivered by barge over truck.
Barging also leads to job creation, economic growth, and increased safety on the roads. We comply with the ACOE, DEC, and DEP rules for waterfront operations and operate under the 1920 Jones Act.
